Southdown has reached a remarkable milestone, achieving 25 consecutive years of Investors in People (IiP) accreditation whilst also retaining our Gold status.

What the accreditation recognises

Investors in People is an independent assessment that examines how organisations invest in their people. The accreditation process involves reviewing policies, speaking with staff at all levels, and evaluating the organisation against national standards.

For Southdown, achieving Gold means the assessment found strong evidence of effective leadership, a culture where people feel heard and valued, robust learning and development opportunities, and systems that recognise contributions. The assessment also examines how well the organisation lives its values in practice, supports wellbeing, and equips people to do their jobs well.

Why it matters

The Investors in People framework has evolved significantly over the past 25 years, with standards rising consistently. Gold status is achieved by fewer than 15% of organisations assessed. Maintaining this level of accreditation throughout this period reflects the sustained commitment and professionalism of colleagues across the organisation.

The fact that Southdown has maintained this standard for 25 years means these practices aren’t just policies on paper. They’re embedded in how the organisation operates day to day, from induction through to career progression, and in how colleagues work together to support the people who use Southdown’s services.

Eve Clennell, Head of People at Southdown, said:
“This recognition is a testament to the passion and integrity demonstrated across Southdown in how colleagues support one another, live our values, and show up for the people who rely on us. It speaks to the culture we have built together and continue to nurture, where belonging and individuality are at the heart of everything we do.”

“The milestone achievement belongs to everyone at Southdown. It reflects the collective effort of teams and individuals who continue to make this a positive, inclusive, and people-focused place to work, embodying our values of being a force for good, brilliant with people, united, trustworthy and responsive.”

This recognition reinforces the organisation’s commitment to supporting not only the communities it serves, but the dedicated people who make that support possible.
