Celebrating the refurbishment of Carisbrooke House

We were thrilled to open the doors of the newly refurbished Carisbrooke House in Hastings last week, welcoming colleagues, partners, and clients to a special celebration event.

Home to both the Staying Well Hastings service and the Wellbeing Centre, Carisbrooke House has undergone a thoughtful transformation to create a more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible space for all who use it. The celebration was a moment to acknowledge the collaborative effort behind the refurbishment, and to shine a light on the vital mental health support being delivered in the community.

Guests had the opportunity to tour the upgraded facilities, connect with staff and partners, and hear about the exciting developments ahead for the services based at the centre.

Rebecca Barkaway, Manager Operation, Wellbeing Services at Southdown, shared:

“A huge thank you to everyone at Southdown who made the refurbishment of Carisbrooke House possible, and to our operational teams for their patience and resilience while services were delivered from alternative locations.

We are very excited that with these building changes we can now move the Staying Well Hastings service to delivering an open access model – reducing the barriers to people accessing support for mental health crises. Also, a big thank you to our colleagues, clients and partners who came along to the inauguration event!“

The refurbishment marks an important step forward in improving access to timely, local mental health support and underlines our continued commitment to being there for people when they need us most.

Our Wellbeing Centres services are delivered as a part of UOK mental health network, a partnership of local organisations in East Sussex. They provide a range of community-based mental health and wellbeing support to enable you to get well, stay well and prevent crisis.

The Centres are also a part of a network of mental health recovery support, called the East Sussex Community Network.
